What does it mean?

Minitab is an advanced statistical package, which can be used for analysis of existing processes and also for design and analysis of experiments.

Aim of training

Minitab is commercial statistical package, which since very beginning is used in Six Sigma. Program can be tested free for 3 months. After this period one needs to buy license.

The Six Sigma methodology developed since 1980s is influencing the development of Minitab. The users finds in the package all statistic tools needed to complete Six Sigma project. They will be asked to do practical exercises using the program. The most important topics are: data storage, data types, transformation of data, formatting of data, usage of formulas, stochastic data, simple statistical analysis (including SPC), graphical analysis (dot plot, histogram, Pareto, time series plot, box plot, multi-vari plot, main effect plot, interval plot), advanced statistical analyses (regression, correlation, design of experiment).

To whom is this training?

The training is dedicated to:

  • continuous improvement employees,
  • quality department employees,
  • process engineers.

Training duration

The training depend on arrangements can take from 1 to 5 days. For example in the 1-day training we present only basic function and graphical analyses. In the 5-days training one can present hypothesis testing and design of experiments (DoE). Ask for training agenda.

Example of a 2-day training program

One assumes a large involvement of participants, which depends on doing tasks and tests beyond the time of training. In an ideal situation between the 1st and 2nd day of training there is a week's break for tasks and tests.

1st. Day

  • Basic functions of Minitab
  • Basic process characteristics
  • Central Limit Theorem (CLT)
  • SPC for continuous and discrete variables
  • MSA for continuous and discrete variables
  • Tasks do be done alone before 2nd day
  • On-line tests from the content of the 1st. day do be done alone before 2nd. day

2nd. Day

  • Tasks overview from 1st. day
  • Process capability
  • T-test
  • ANOVA
  • Correlation
  • Regression
  • Final test

Training cost

Each training is adjusted to customer needs, so the pricing of dedicated training is calculated individually. Ask for more details.
